Diana Ross rose to fame as the lead singer of powerhouse group The Supremes during the 1960s and became Motown"s most successful stars. Ross was instrumental in paving the way for other African American artists to maintain mainstream success. The group went on to release a ground-breaking twelve hit singles which reached the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. In the 1970s, Ross left the group to start her solo career and saw huge success with all of her songs and albums.
